Northern Ireland
: The United Kingdom's leading Low Carbon Research, Design and Manufacturing Region - Olive Hill, Director, Technology & Process Development Division, Invest NI
This presentation will demonstrate Northern Ireland's unique capabilities in the areas of low carbon research at Queens University and University of Ulster, developments in the Northern Ireland renewables sector and the products and services presently being provided by Northern Ireland companies for the international renewables market. Fife: The Renewable Energy Opportunity - Robin Presswood, Business & Strategy Manager, Fife Council [ presentation ]; Douglas Mundie, Managing Director, SMRU Ltd [ presentation ]; and Richard Bonsall, Head of Commercial Asset for Biomass, RWE npower renewables. [ presentation ] Fife is set to play a leading role in the development of Renewable Energy in Scotland. The region is on the doorstep of several major projects that will lead Scotland's drive to a low carbon economy including offshore wind, carbon capture & storage, hydrogen fuel cells and biomass. We will also hear from companies who are benefiting from the growth of renewables in Fife.

This presentation will outline the wealth of opportunities contained within the Highlands and Islands region in the advancement of renewable energy through pioneering developments, including innovative research at the frontiers of marine energy and the empowerment of self-sufficient rural communities.
