Welcome to teachers visiting All-Energy 2010

Education Day at All-Energy 2010

We are delighted to be able to announce that we are working with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, the Energy Institute and the SPE on an Education Day at this year’s All-Energy. This will take place on Thursday 20 May.

Invitees from both the Shire and the City will include subject-specialist teachers from secondary and primary schools and career guidance experts. Broadly speaking the day will comprise an overall briefing session for the teachers/careers experts; the opportunity for them to visit the exhibition (with themed trails designed to represent their particular interests – e.g. biology teachers will want to learn about different elements of renewables from those running after-school engineering clubs); themed ‘round tables’ with experts on particular topics providing information and answering their questions – and no doubt posing some of their own; and there will be a final debrief between 15.00 and 16.00 when both the City and Shire education experts will soak up feedback.

The All-Energy Education Day is sponsored by ECITB

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) serves the training needs of the engineering construction industry which generates 1.5% of UK GDP. Many other sectors rely on engineering construction for oil, gas, chemicals and power.

There are approximately 80,000 persons employed in engineering construction within the UK, designing, constructing and maintaining process plants for a wide range of industry sectors. Another 30,000 people are employed overseas.

The range of sectors that fit within engineering construction is constantly evolving.

Currently the following sectors are considered to fall under the remit of ECITB:
